This Saturday, Hear Again Records Hosts Record Store Day For Gainesville

By: Ian Maikisch

Vinyl is once again a billion dollar industry. With re-pressings happening everyday, you can now get a brand new copy of albums like Dr. Dre’s “The Chronic” or even Robert Johnson’s “Down at The Crossroads.” With new artists endorsing the medium, like Jack White, it’s no wonder why vinyl records are expected to do nearly 40 million dollars in sales this year alone.

Those numbers don’t lie and are why so many record stores have been popping up all across the world and holidays like record store day have become a thing.

This year is supposed to be one of the best for record store day. If you don’t know, record store day is a holiday for vinyl and music lovers where fans flock to their local record store in search of that exclusive release or their favorite record that is only going to be pressed for this great holiday.

Here in Gainesville we are actually lucky enough to have an official record store day venue right downtown. This Saturday, April 22nd, Hear Again Records on 1st street will open up their treasure chest of gems and wax rarities to the public. Offering everything from David Bowie and The Ramones to the soundtrack of my childhood — Space Jam!
