Songs From A Room: Sofar Sounds Gainesville Recorded Sets

Sofar Sounds is an international organization that puts on shows in over 400 cities around the world every month. A Sofar gig is an intimate show held in an unique venue, like someone’s living room or an antique shop. It typically features three artists, playing four songs each. Every lineup is specially curated to give our audiences a diverse show.

Sofar Sounds Gainesville was started in 2018 to celebrate the amazing community in Gainesville, Florida. Gainesville has a fascinating and important musical lineage and Sofar Sounds Gainesville aims to honor and add to that history.

We’re happy to share live recording from various sets which you can listen to below:

War On Women is a co-ed feminist hardcore-punk band. Formed in Baltimore, MD in 2011. WOW has quickly become a favorite in the downtown-Gainesville community. From playing shows at Changeville to, our favorite weekend of all, FEST. We are so excited to be releasing a track by this band through our partnership with Sofar Sounds Gainesville. WOW RULES!

This late 80’s baby groomed his lyrical skills for years as an underground emcee, growing from influences like Bob Marley, Lauryn Hill, Mos Def and the Motown Greats. Lovett has been sharpening his genre-bending style since beginning his career over a decade ago. Throughout that time, he independently toured the globe and performed alongside the likes of Wale, Vince Staples, George Clinton, P-Funk, and more. Lovett released a series of independent albums and after signing to a major (Motown Gospel), released two EPs.

Myra Gleason, Stereo RV’s lead singer, has one of the most powerfully expressive voices you’ve ever heard. Her fervent vocals, backed by the guitar and extraordinary beat boxing abilities of her husband, Gabe, make the vulnerable songs on Human, their debut EP, an overwhelming experience. The tracks are flooded with the joys and sorrows of everyday life, given wing by the record’s vibrant production and melodies that will haunt you, even after a single listen.
